While you were busy creating the next post for your personal or Business Facebook page, Facebook quietly launched ‘Audience Optimization’ – a feature that’s going to change the way you ‘organically’ reach your audience.
Facebook states that: “Audience Optimization is an organic targeting tool to help publishers reach and engage their audience on Facebook and better understand the interests of people clicking on their posts.”
Facebook has started rolling out the new feature to most of the pages but just in case you can’t see it then you can activate it from the settings menu. If you can’t see the option within the settings menu then you will just need to wait a little longer for the feature to be activated on your page. (Our bet is that it won’t take long 😉 )
News Feed Targeting
By using this option you can make sure to reach a certain set of your audience that match your criteria. For example, if you have a blog post that is specifically written for web designers then you can specify it in the options here and Facebook will show the post to relevant people. This means your chances of engagement with the right audience will improve immensely. You can target your posts as per Interests, Age, Gender and Locations using this option.
You can exclude a certain set of audience by using this option. Comes really handy when you want to reach a larger section of your audience while excluding a few.
If you’ve made the post using the Audience Optimization feature then you will get a detailed insights of the audience that have interacted with the post. You can study the insights to improve your future post and targeting.
We’ve got to be honest, we’ve not really tested the feature yet but sources say that this feature has resulted in better engagement rates. This is good news for all brands and social media managers 🙂

- First things first: Get yourself a half decent website. This is key, become a publisher of content. This is going to be your home, your starting point, the game will be to drive tons of traffic here eventually.
- Use Social Media: There was a time when discovery of content was difficult, but Facebook, Twitter and gang have changed that. Be sure to share your story via these channels. Build a base and serve them with valuable content regularly
- Monetize traffic: Once you’ve started driving traffic to your site, the fun part begins. You can start monetizing it with Google Adsense. All you have to do is place a small little code snippet on your site and almighty Google will start placing ads relevant to your content. You will earn money whenever someone clicks on these ads
- Become An Affiliate: Once you’re fairly confident about your traffic and understand its behavior, you can start placing affiliate ads. These are, in most case, Pay per Sale which means you make money only when a visitor clicks on the banner and makes a purchase on the merchants website. While this isn’t as simple as the Adsense, there is a significantly higher amount of money to be made.
- Curate Content: Once you start playing this game, you develop the most valuable asset; Insight. You understand customer behavior, you become a name, a credible source. At this point, your visitors buy in to what you suggest/recommend. Advertisers love curators. They pay a pretty penny to credible taste-makers to recommend their products or to just review it. You know you’ve made it big when this happens.
This my friends, is how you make money on the internet. Sure it sounds easy but remember, there are atleast a million players in whichever field you choose. So remember these golden words “Add value to your visitor’s lives”, people will give you their most precious commodity, TIME.

This week twitter announced a much needed upgrade to its analytics tool offering some pretty cool intel about your audience, their behavior, preferences and so on.
The new and improved analytics offers features like demographic information, interests, purchasing behavior, mobile carriers and device usage. Unfortunately though, a bulk of this new information is only available to it’s US Twitter users. They say they plan to roll out this feature to more users in the coming months.
